Young adults in the UK spend one-third of their lives in front of screens. (This fact comes to you courtesy of your computer, tablet or smartphone.) At this point, interfacing via our digital machines is second nature. But does it liberate us or trap us? Furtherfield Gallery, nestled amongst greenery in Finsbury Park, takes on this complicated question in the exhibition Beyond the Interface, which includes works from international artists. One of them is a new installment in Nathaniel Stern's Compressionism series, for which the artist transformed the building's external walls into an immersive, rippling installation of images of water lilies by way of hacked scanner. Monet, meet Mac.
